About Dart Frog Nursery
Dart Frog Nursery is a family-owned dart frog breeding project based in Southern California, built around one main passion: Oophaga.
What started as a personal obsession with trying to collect all of my favorite localities, has grown into a focused nursery dedicated to producing healthy, captive-bred animals and helping teach more forgers how to succeed with them. We specialize in Oophaga, including pumilio and large obligate species. With an emphasis on clean bloodlines, accurate locality information, and sourcing the most remarkable individuals for our breeding program - our mission is to bring you the brightest, healthiest frogs, while making sure to recognize the importance of education & conservation as well.
At Dart Frog Nursery, we are not trying to be a general amphibian shop. Our focus is narrow on purpose - we work with frogs we genuinely love most! We raise offspring from our own collection, and put care into the details that matter: proper conditioning, consistent feeding/supplementation, clean cultures, safe shipping, and honest representation of the animals we offer.
When you shop with us, the only photos you will see are of our breeders or their offspring, not random stock photos. For WYSIWYG animals, you will get the exact frog shown. For non-WYSIWYG listings, our goal is still to represent each locality as accurately as possible so customers know what to expect, with a collection of photos intended to show the rage of variability for particular localities.
We also offer all of the supplies you need for keeping Oophaga: Cultures, plants, media, supplements, as well as beginner-friendly bundles because we know success with dart frogs is not just about buying the frog. It is about having the right setup, the right foods, and the right support from the start. Our goal is to simplify this hobby - to instill confidence and to lessen the barrier of entry for new hobbyists.
Live animal shipping is handled carefully and only when weather conditions are safe. We reserve the right to hold any live animal orders until shipping conditions are safe. If you are not comfortable with waiting we will always refund the order, no questions asked. We usually only ship live animals on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so shipments are not stuck in transit over the weekend, and we always prioritize the health and safety of the frogs over rushing an order out the door.
Our aim here at DFN is simply to provide the highest quality captive-bred Oophaga - rare localities, proven bloodlines, reliable supplies, and all the information you need to be successful. Our customers can rest easy knowing that they are buying from people who eat, sleep, and breathe OOPHAGA! But most of all, we truly respect and cherish these incredible animals.
